We were represented by our President, Simone, who laid a wreath on our behalf at this special ceremony.
The speaker was Valerie Stevens, a Dorset lady, who was President of the Associated Country Women of The World.
Our W.I. organised a trip to the show and it was so popular that over 40 ladies were on the coach. It was a successful trip and a very enjoyable day out.
We were given a guided tour of their headquarters and learnt a lot about the training of the volunteers. A few ladies then braved the lifeboat simulator which luckily was before our lunch in their cafe.
The float showed some of the campaigns in which the organisation has been involved over the past years. Some of our past campaign slogans were on display including Equal pay for Equal work, Take your litter home, National Breast Screening and SOS
for honey bees.
An enjoyable picnic was followed by a National Trust guide taking us on a very informative tour of the grounds.
